Promoting girls' empowerment through sport in Afghanistan

This UNICEF blog reports on an initiative to promote girls' empowerment through sport in Bamyan, Afghanistan. Published in April 2010, the blog focuses on the joint initiative by UNICEF, the Bamyan Provincial Department of Women's Affairs and the local Youth Information and Contact Centre (YICC) to create girls’ volleyball, hockey and football teams with the goal of engaging girls in community development and peacebuilding.
