What is Misogyny?

Definition

Misogyny is prejudice, hatred and hostility towards women. It is especially directed towards girls and women who challenge male dominance. Misogyny aims to control women into reinforcing sexist ideas and patriarchy.

Girls and women are prevented from receiving quality education due to misogynistic fears about their gaining knowledge and social power. Gender transformative education aims to eradicate misogynistic beliefs by showing that equality benefits everyone and is not a zero-sum game.
