Empowering Students Through a Transformative Approach to Gender Facilitator Guide for Gender Training Module in Schools

Gender tends to denote the social and cultural role of each sex within a given society. The concept of gender includes five types of elements: relational, hierarchical, historical, contextual and institutional. While most people are born either male or female, they are conditioned to certain social norms and behavior – including how they should interact within households, communities and work places either with persons of same sex or opposite sex. Since these gender norms are so entrenched in our society, actions and beliefs, they seem natural to us.
