This blog, by a young feminist activist, looks at the widespread phenomenon of under-reporting incidents of gender-based violence and school-related gender-based violence in South Asia. As the author argues, this silence is exacerbated when communities are in frontier lands and often comes at a crossroads with class, caste and religion. What it boils down to is bodies that matter, lives that are worth mourning and cases that are shown on primetime channels tend to be the cases that get the attention of civil society, policy makers and authorities.
