Thembe Mahlaba and Tony Porter: Let’s Get Real About the Man Box

A discussion between Thembe Mahlaba and Tony Porter around issues of manhood and masculinities, gender norms socialization, and preventing violence against all women and girls, including in and around education setting. Held on International Day of the Girl (IDG) 2021 at the launch of a new digital campaign by UN Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI), calling for education that is free from gender stereotypes. Youth activists, teachers, gender and education experts, ministry personnel and feminist artists and creatives came together for a virtual launch event to say NO to gender stereotypes in classrooms. Stakeholders shared their experiences of gender norms and stereotypes in education, and practical ways in which they can be addressed.
